SFQ Swim Squad’s, Learn To Swim program is a comprehensive swimming and water safety program that seeks to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all participants.
Each award level is structured to a balanced, comprehensive instructional approach to a child's aquatic education. The program will emphasis fun and enjoyment to reflect the hopes and aspirations of children and families as they embark on a lifetime of fun and safety in the water.
Duckling (3-5 years)
This is our first tage of independent learning. At Ducklings, the children will improve water safety and confidence through a variety of structured tasks, games and activities. This will include focus on floating, submersion and movement. Instructors will be in the water.
Cygnets (4 years and over)
This is our first stage of independent learning At Cynets, the children will improve water safety and confidence through a variety of structured tasks, games and activities. This will include focus on floating, submersion and movement. Instructors are in the water.
In this level this level the children will advance on all skills gained in the previous levels. The focus will progress to swimming without aids for a short distance, with the priority still on water safety and confidence. This level will include focus on floating, submersions and movement. Instructors will be in the water.
Seahorses are able to perfect all of the Starfish achievements as well as develop techniques, enabling them to complete further distances on all four swimming strokes. This level will include focus on floating, submersion and movement.
Turtles are able to perfect all the previous levels of achievements. They will further develop breathing, rotation, breastroke, butterful and treading water.
Seals are able to perfect all the Turtles' requirements, alongside an introduction to lane swimming, developing vital skills including, timing, rotation, skulling and lifesaving skills.
Advancing on to our 'Skills Development Program'. Swimmers will work on technical aspects of all strokes, introducing further lifesaving skills and the beginning of dives and turns.
This level will further develop all skills learnt in Marlins, and will introduce Individual Medley' recogition, tumble turns, lifesaving and transition phases.'
Aquaskills L7/ Aquaskills L8
These advanced squads takes the swimmers to the next level. These trainings sessions develop effective competitive stroke technique, fitness and endurance. These swimmers can choose to participate in competitive events within thier ability range.
